The MS 261 C-M model has an updated cylinder, chain sprocket cover and muffler. Increased engine power of 3.0 kW and weight reduced to 4.9 kg. A very light, comfortable and durable professional chainsaw. Lively and powerful, with an easy-to-clean HD2 filter, an adjustable oil pump and practical features such as a stainless-steel muffler, captive nuts on the chain sprocket cover and a one-piece cover with three quick-release fasteners. Up to 20% lower fuel consumption and up to 50% fewer emissions compared with a STIHL two-stroke engine of the same power without 2-MIX technology.

ElastoStart starter, tool-free fuel caps, pre-separation air filtration system, 2-MIX engine, tool-free HD2 air filter, tool-free engine cover, adjustable oil pump and captive cover nuts on the chain sprocket cover make the MS 261 C-M easy and comfortable to use.

STIHL patented anti-vibration system - decompression valve for easier starting - ElastoStart starter to cushion the jolt when starting. The compensator ensures smooth, trouble-free engine running even with a dirtier air filter.

HD2 air filter

STIHL 2-MIX®

2-MIX: Using a unique 4-channel technology developed by STIHL, a cushion of fresh air is created between the combustion residues and the fresh fuel. This cushion reduces the amount of fresh fuel that mixes into the combustion residues, thereby reducing fuel consumption. This also produces fewer emissions and makes the engine gentler on the environment.

About guide bars

STIHL produces a full range of guide bars for all STIHL chainsaws. With a few exceptions,
all STIHL guide bars use the oil-saving Ematic system. Every guide bar marked with the letter E
is an Ematic guide bar. STIHL guide bars are available in a wide range of lengths and in gauges of 1.1 mm (Rollomatic
Mini), 1.3 mm, 1.5 mm and 1.6 mm.
