Chainsaw STIHL MS 400 C-M

New chainsaw with the best power-to-weight ratio of 1.41 kg/kW in the 60 cm³ class.

Lightweight, powerful and with excellent acceleration. The saw is designed for demanding, high-volume forestry work in any weather – felling, cross-cutting and delimbing. Excellent reliability and STIHL's patented technical solutions make this saw a very light, responsive and powerful tool. Guide bars of up to 50 cm can be used. The equipment includes a long-life air filter system with cyclone pre-separation and STIHL's professional anti-vibration system for smooth operation and optimum handling.

Model with STIHL M-Tronic 3 and 2-MIX engine!

Comfort is added by the ElastoStart starter handle, quick-release tank caps, quick-release HD2 air filter, quick-release engine cover and captive nuts on the chain sprocket cover. Fuel tank 0.6 l and oil tank 0.325 l. Maximum chain speed is 28.9 m/s and 21.7 m/s at maximum power. Maximum torque is 4.3 Nm.

Guide bars of up to 50 cm 3/8 and matching saw chains are available as optional accessories for the chainsaw MS 400.

STIHL M-Tronic

The fuel supply is electronically controlled and automatically adapts to working and environmental conditions, ensuring optimal engine performance. The memory function lets you quickly resume unfinished work after a break, with no need to adjust the settings manually.

If you mix the fuel yourself, only STIHL two-stroke engine oil or another high-performance engine oil of class JASO FB, JASO FC, JASO FD, ISO-L-EGB, ISO-L-EGC or ISO-L-EGD may be used. STIHL prescribes the two-stroke engine oil STIHL HP Ultra or an equivalent high-performance engine oil to ensure the emission limit values are met throughout the machine's service life.

HD2 Air filter

A tool-free interchangeable/removable and easy-to-clean air filter suitable for all conditions (warm, cold, dry, damp). Thanks to its special material, it repels water and oil.

STIHL 2-MIX®

Why choose STIHL 2-MIX engines? Using the unique 4-channel technology developed by STIHL, a cushion of fresh air is created between the combustion residues and the fresh fuel. This reduces the amount of fuel that ends up among the combustion residues, thereby reducing fuel consumption. This also produces fewer exhaust gases and the engine operation is kinder to nature. STIHL 2-MIX® technology has up to 20% lower fuel consumption and up to 70% lower exhaust emissions compared with STIHL two-stroke engines of the same power class without 2-MIX technology.
