A tiller must be reliable and simple

The biggest advantages of STIHL tillers are considered to be their very good weight distribution both horizontally and vertically; the helicoidal tine blades also make work with this machine smoother, cutting into the soil gently rather than striking with force. This ensures smooth, comfortable and effortless operation, possible even when steering the machine with one hand (proven in real life). All engines have an easy-start system. For easier work and manoeuvring, the tillers have a reverse gear. Note that the forward and reverse control levers cannot be used at the same time, thanks to a safety lock.

Adjusting the height and angle of the handle has been made easy. The handle mount is higher and can be opened and closed with one hand. The machine's storage and transport position is compact, i.e. the handle folds behind the machine. This saves more space and makes the machine more stable in storage.

Many changes have been made to the most important connecting component, which links all the machine's main assemblies (engine, transmission, handle, transport wheels, braking bar), in connection with the handle mount above. The anti-vibration system is completely new. The braking bar is adjusted with a spring pin, which means the height is easy to change and there are fewer loose (and potentially losable) parts on the machine. Moving the transport wheels into transport and working position is done simply with your foot.

A new handle has been added to the front of the tiller, making it easier to lift the machine into, for example, a car trailer or boot, so you can take the tiller to your grandmother in the neighbouring village to dig the potato field.

The transmission and gearbox are sturdy. A backlash-free reduction gear is used. The large side surfaces of the reduction gear ensure good cooling, while protective caps at the ends of the output shafts prevent soil and roots from winding around them and causing damage. The plastic protective covers are made of double-layer polymer.
