The future belongs to batteries – the new Stihl MSA 140 C-BQ chainsaw – up to 180 cuts on a single charge!

Stihl has set its future on cordless technology – this is already shown by three different cordless product series, which we present in more detail in a previous post (here). We are pleased to announce a new Compact series cordless saw that even outshines the PRO series cordless saw! Namely, the chain speed is equivalent – 14 metres per second – and the weight is almost a kilogram lighter than the MSA 160 C intended for professional use. At the same time the working time is 10 minutes longer and, most importantly – the price bracket is reasonable!

NEW STIHL MSA 140 C-BQ CORDLESS CHAINSAW

The easy-to-handle MSA 140 C-BQ is compact, light in weight, with an EC brushless motor designed and manufactured by STIHL. It is a very easy-to-use and very quiet battery-powered chainsaw. The MSA 140 C-BQ is 25% more powerful than the Compact series MSA 120 cordless saw and is fitted with the new, more powerful AK30 battery (187Wh). Although the new cordless saw is intended for home users, it is also ideal for professional carpenters. It is ideal for working in enclosed spaces in woodworking workshops. Of course, the cordless saw is also convenient to use for landscape maintenance, trimming back branches, bushes and trees. It requires no ear defenders when in use and makes no engine noise at all!

The MSA 140 C-BQ is equipped with tool-free quick chain tensioning and the intelligent STIHL QuickStop Super chain brake – as soon as the user releases the rear handle, the chain stops completely within a fraction of a second. This provides considerably greater safety.

The new cordless saw uses a specially developed STIHL saw chain, 1/4″ PM3, which ensures excellent cutting performance thanks to its closely spaced cutting teeth. Did you know that STIHL makes all its chains itself at its chain factory in Switzerland, and has done so for decades?

Thanks to the quick chain tensioning system, the saw chain is very easy to change, and for sharpening a STIHL sharpening guide with a 3.2 mm round file is used. We also give the saw buyer a suitable sharpening set into the bargain (worth 31.90 euros). With the innovative sharpening set, both the cutting tooth and the depth gauge that regulates the thickness of the sawdust are sharpened at the same time. This in turn guarantees maximum cutting speed and quality.

Compact series products use STIHL Compact series batteries, which deliver maximum power right up to the last minute of work. For the MSA 140 C-BQ chainsaw we recommend using the AK 30 Compact battery included in the set:

On a single charge, depending on the load, the AP30 battery makes it possible to work for ~45 min or, for example, up to 180 cuts when cutting 10×10 cm square timber.

As chain oil, we recommend using STIHL BioPlus saw-chain oil in the home garden, which ensures clean nature for you and, above all, a longer life for the chain and guide bar – we give this to the saw buyer into the bargain too!
