Nowadays people increasingly want to be aware of what they breathe in. As a result of inhaling long-term chemical compounds, a number of health problems can arise - ranging from headaches and skin irritations to even asthma and cancer. For this reason, more and more consumers do their homework on a product - what the product is made of, what certificates the product has, what the feedback is.
Clean indoor air
The wood oil produced by Rubio Monocoat, a pioneer of environmentally friendly products, is the first of its kind to be completely free of airborne chemical compounds.
Even before the abbreviation VOC (volatile organic compounds) came into use, the manufacturer Rubio decided to set the bar so high that the product would contain 0% volatile organic compounds. The standards that Rubio Monocoat set itself were stricter than those described in the 2010 regulations. This shows that the company cares about both the worker and the end consumer.
In 2018 the company takes its operations to the next level, adding a new eco-label to its list of quality-assuring certificates. Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Label, this eco-label guarantees the continued high standard of the products we offer our customers.
Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort
Rubio Monocoat is the first company in the wood-care products sector to obtain the eco-label Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold Label. The same label has been obtained by the well-known construction companies BASF, Knauf Insulation and Saint Gobain. With this label we want to continue giving our customers a guarantee that our products are a safe choice and do not contain toxic airborne compounds. Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort is a sign that Rubio Monocoat focuses on quality and on creating a healthier indoor air environment. The label describes, in combination, the health-damaging emissions in indoor spaces and sets out the limit requirements established in Europe, all in a single certificate.
Rubio Monocoat wood oil is Fit for Food
This is a certificate that proves that Rubio Monocoat wood oil is completely safe on wood that comes into direct contact with food. Fit for Food ensures the full compliance of all types of food-contact materials with the legislation in force in Europe. The production and testing of products intended for contact with food is treated as a legislative requirement. From now on we can say that if Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (A + B) is used on a wood surface that is itself food-safe, then the combination of the wood and our Oil Plus 2C is also safe and therefore suitable for food, under Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. This declaration is the result of an official test carried out by the official independent testing institute Eurofins. In practice, “food-safe” means that cutting boards, kitchen worktops, table tops and the like treated with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C are also safe in the household.

Rubio Monocoat wood oil is a wax-based, plant-based oil. The advantage of the oil is that it reacts on contact with the first particles of the wood, and a single coat is enough to give the wood a suitable tone and durable protection. Therefore the time and oil consumption is low; 1L can oil 30-50m².
Wood protection product for indoor use - Rubio Monocoat Oil+2C wood oil
Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is a new-generation product that protects and tints wood with a single coat. The combination of oil (A) and accelerator (B) guarantees fast drying. It can also be applied as a renovation and maintenance oil on surfaces treated with RMC Oil Plus.

– Short “dry cleaning” period: after five days the surface can be washed with water and soap
USE:
1. Untreated wood: sand the surface with sandpaper. Clean the sanded surface of dust, remove dust residues with RMC Cleaner.
2. Mix the two components thoroughly (1-2 minutes), approximately 3 parts A and 1 part B.
3. When the cleaned surface is dry, rub a small amount of RMC Oil Plus 2C onto it (with a cloth, sponge or polishing machine fitted with a beige polishing pad). Treat an area of 5–10 m² at a time.
4. Allow the product to react for a few minutes and carefully remove the excess oil (with a cloth or a polishing machine fitted with a white polishing pad) within 15 minutes of application. The surface must feel dry! Treat the remaining areas in the same way.
5. In a well-ventilated room the surface is walkable after 24-36 hours.
After five days the surface can be cleaned with water and RMC products. To ensure the long life and protection of the treated surface, Rubio Monocoat maintenance products must be used. Used tools can be cleaned with RMC Cleaner.
CONSUMPTION: 30-50 m²/L, depending on the type of wood, the degree of sanding and the application method. RMC Oil Plus 2C is usable for 4-6 hours after mixing.
NOTE: USE FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS: 60 – 80 m²/L.

Rubio Monocoat makes choosing oils even easier thanks to the King of Colours design programme! The idea of the design programme is that the customer can try out for themselves how the oil shades suit different interiors. For example, you can choose one shade for the worktop and another for the floor and then compare whether the shades go together and what the overall look of the room will be.
